5 Things You Must Know before Windows 10 Releases on July 29 This Year

Microsoft has always been at the forefront of innovation, with revolutionary yet user-friendly operating systems, being rolled out at regular intervals. Continuing in the same vein, Microsoft is releasing its latest Windows Operating System – Windows 10, in about two months’ time – on July 29th, 2015. Here are 5 facts you must know before you get your hands on it.

1. Free Download for Original Windows 7 and 8 (8.1) Users

If you’re currently running original Windows 7 or 8 on your systems, you will have received a notification message from Microsoft about the availability of Windows 10. You can register for the upgrade, and on July 29, when the Operating system is available, Download and install it on your systems. People who currently have counterfeit Windows OS on their systems, will have to shell out $119 or $199 to purchase the new OS.

2    Return of the Start Menu

Windows 8 greeted users with a confusing UI topped off with the absence of a start menu. With Microsoft having paid attention to its consumers’ complaints, the Start Menu makes a grand return, with the tiles feature of Windows 8 embedded within the menu. Thereby, keeping everyone happy.

3.      Cortana

For everyone who is familiar with Siri and Voice-commands with Google Now, Cortana comes as a pleasant surprise because it is embedded within the desktop. Searches are run within the hard drive and also over the internet, and results will be returned in a consolidated fashion, on a widget.

4.      Microsoft Edge replaces the archaic Internet Explorer

Windows users have been crying out for a faster and more compact web browser, and Microsoft provides one with Windows 10. Edge is powered by Microsoft’s Bing search engine and will provide chrome-like search options through the address bar.

5.     Final Goodbye to Hearts and Solitaire.

In a survey by Forbes, the games – Hearts and Solitaire – came out on top of the list of items that decrease productivity among professionals. While Windows 7 and 8 did have non-standard versions of the game, Windows 10 has removed it from its list of Pre-installed programs, in an effort to increase productivity.
