Database Considerations for Citrix XenApp Data Store

Citrix XenApp Training
The performance of a XenApp deployment is dependent on which database is used to store data. Citrix XenApp 6.5 Training outlines certain design considerations to be kept in mind that act as a guideline for users who are responsible for taking such decisions for their organizations. Such decisions are make or break - that is, they impact supply chains across the enterprise. Therefore the following database considerations help a great deal in selecting the right approach to store data.

Which vendor and version are you going for: Make sure you know which vendor and version does your Citrix deployment support.

Which edition do you prefer: You have the option of selecting one of these editions for your environment - Standard, Enterprise, Work Group, Data Center, Web or Express?

Number of Users: Determining how much storage you need is dependent on the no. of users and log sizing.

Server Configuration: Make sure that your system configuration (RAM and processor) is sufficient for the server to host XenApp. Also ascertain whether a rise in the number of users will affect performance adversely or not.

Availability options: Determine whether you wish to go for Mirroring, Clustering or High Availability.

Authentication and Authorization: Decide on the permission criteria for granting access to users to conduct general operations. Also settle on the authentication mode - SQL or Windows.

Answering all these questions before moving on to the next step will help users gain useful insights and be sure of their well thought of choice for a database. So make sure you go through each one of these points and make an informed database decision based on this knowledge.
